Driving Tip: Maintain lots of following distance.

...Some people say to count two seconds, but this is a bare minimum of following distance. Give yourself some extra space with the three-second gap. Four seconds is probably getting to be too much, but if you have the luxury of this much following distance, consider yourself fortunate, and enjoy it!

  1. This is an important tip because many drivers leave little room between their car and the vehicle in front of them. This can be a disaster if someone has to stop short or an accident occurs ahead of the drivers. This is how multi-car collisions occur.
